Abstract:
This data set consists of aerial surveys for the Brown Marsh Project
Task 1.6. The survey were conducted on April 27-29, 2001 using a
helicopter to visit 21 pre-determined sites, based upon the presence of
three health zones (healthy, transition, and dead). Data were collected
for species and conditions, soil and porewater physicochemical parameters;
leaf tissue cation and metal concentrations
Purpose: To determine degree and pattern of recovery of
the Louisiana Coastal Marsh community from the dieback event of 2000 and to
identify potential causes of dieback.

Constraints:
Access to data sets is restricted to Marsh Dieback and Nutria Control
Investigators for a period of two years after QA/QC review. Written
notification of the Principal Investigator as to the intended use is
required prior to accessing the data set during the restricted access
period. After two years, the data shall be made available to the public.
Use Constraints:
During the restricted access period, use of data sets is limited to
modeling efforts and production of synthesis reports by Marsh Dieback
collaborators. Specific limitations on how the data sets may be used during
the restricted access period will be determined jointly by the Principal
Investigator and user. Those individuals who gain access and use of the data
during this period are required to agree to these restrictions. Users other
than Marsh Dieback collaborators should exercise caution in using these data
sets. Proper use of these data requires specialized knowledge of salt marsh
ecology and soil chemistry as well as in-depth understanding of the
experimental and statistical constraints under which the data set was
collected. Potential users are advised to consult with the Principal
Investigator to gain an understanding of the inherent limitations of this
data set and its scope of inference. In addition, it is suggested that users
consult other data sets on marsh dieback and not rely solely on this one.
